Cochise College, AMU Facilitate Transfer of Intelligence Operations AA Credit Toward BA Degrees

Douglas, Ariz., April, 20, 2007   Cochise College and American Public University System, the parent institution of American Military University (AMU), signed an agreement Monday that will assist intelligence operations graduates’ transition into AMU’s online bachelor’s degree program in intelligence.

Effective this month, students graduating from Cochise College with an associate degree in intelligence operations will be able to easily transfer into AMU’s bachelor of arts in intelligence studies upon application to AMU.

The agreement will allow students enrolled in intelligence operations programs at Cochise College to plan an appropriate course of study for transfer to AMU. Students graduating with Cochise College intelligence operations degrees may transfer up to 90 credits toward core, major and general program requirements into AMU’s intelligence bachelor’s degree program. AMU is the nation’s leading provider of intelligence degree programs. Both institutions are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

In addition to offering technical training and associate degrees to the general public, Cochise College awards credit to military personnel who have received sufficient, verifiable training in specific intelligence occupational areas at Fort Huachuca. In addition to the rigorous training provided by the military, intelligence operations students also must complete general education courses totaling 35 credits in order to earn an associate degree. The college’s partnership with Fort Huachuca allows military students to maintain a record of their college credit and to complete their associate degrees online. Between 500 and 600 military students are expected to graduate with intelligence operations degrees from Cochise College this year.
