AMU Signs Cooperative Degree Agreement with Goodfellow AFB
CHARLES TOWN, WV, Feb. 5, 2007 — Goodfellow Air Force Base’s 17th Training Group and American Military University (AMU) recently signed a cooperative degree program agreement. Service members who now complete Goodfellow’s intelligence and related courses can transfer those credits toward online intelligence bachelor’s or master’s degrees at AMU.
AMU is a regionally and nationally accredited distance learning institution based here. It serves more than 20,000 civilian and military students worldwide — and has one of the nation’s largest intelligence degree programs. Goodfellow’s 17th Training Group provides cryptologic and intelligence training for the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. It is located in San Angelo, Texas.
“Our partnership with Goodfellow underscores our mission — and the reason AMU was founded — to provide relevant, affordable higher education to service members and others,” says Wallace E. Boston Jr., president and chief executive officer of American Public University System. AMU is part of the University System.
“This agreement provides our intelligence professionals with a tremendous opportunity,” says Air Force Col. D. Scott George, 17th Training Group commander. “Their hard work at Goodfellow can help them earn their intelligence degrees more quickly.”
Agreement Overview
Goodfellow students who successfully complete these programs after the Jan. 9, 2007 agreement signing date can earn transfer credits toward AMU’s graduate strategic intelligence degree:
- Intelligence officer course, 15 semester hours
- Five other officer-level courses, three semester hours each
Students can transfer up to 15 semester hours toward a master’s degree.
