Biography
Mr. James P. Etter
Founder
James Etter founded American Military University in 1991 and established the American Public University System (APUS) in 2002. As Chief Executive Officer, he led the organization through its major milestones of academic development, licensing, accreditation, and growth.
Before founding APUS, Mr. Etter was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a Naval Flight Officer and an instructor at the U.S. Marine Corps' Amphibious Warfare School. The author of numerous articles, Mr. Etter holds a B.A. degree in History from Virginia Commonwealth University, an M.A. degree in History from George Mason University, and is a graduate of the Naval War College.
