Student Learning Assessment Reports in Business Administration

Student learning assessment reports require that faculty, department chairs, and deans: 1) identify the student learning outcomes in their degree program; 2) establish methods that can assess their student learning outcomes; and 3) use the results of their assessment in the decision making process regarding their curriculum and curriculum delivery in a way that maximizes student learning opportunities.  To demonstrate how assessment data are being used to continually improve on courses and programs, each report documents a profile of the program, student learning outcomes, curricular mapping, direct and indirect measures of assessment, and how data are used for continuous improvement.

Institution-wide End of Program Survey Data

The end-of-program survey, administered to all students prior to graduation, seeks information from students regarding needed improvements in educational programs and service areas.  Information derived from a series of Likert scale and open-ended questions assists in determining: 1) the extent to which APUS is meeting the institutional objectives, and 2) the usefulness, currency, and relevancy of its academic programs.

Major Field Test Results for Business Administration - Graduate Level (MBA)

The Major Field Test for the Master of Business Administration consists of 124 multiple-choice questions, half of which are based on short case-study scenarios.  Some questions employ such materials as diagrams, graphs, and statistical data.  Most of the questions require knowledge of specific information drawn from marketing, management, finance, and managerial accounting, or a combination of these, referred to as "strategic integration".  The test also includes questions that focus on international business, information technology, the legal and regulatory environment of business, statistical analysis, and managerial economics.  A unique feature of the MFT-MBA is that all of the questions on the test measure critical thinking ability; that is, the ability to interpret data, to apply concepts and ideas, and to analyze the data, theories, and relationships deductively and inductively.  The overall scaled score can be considered a measure of a student's critical thinking and reasoning within the domain of a standard MBA curriculum.  Click here to review more information about the MBA Major Field Test.
