Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program (AU-ABC) Frequently Asked Questions

It is the student's responsibility to alert APUS that s/he may fall under a current Agreement by emailing his/her Student ID and the name of the Agreement to articulations@apus.edu.

Q:  How do I know if I am eligible to participate in the CCAF AU-ABC program with AMU?

A:  In order to be eligible for participation in this program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled and admitted in the linking APUS program listed below associated to your CCAF Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
  • Have not already completed your transfer admission process APUS, including but not limited to receipt of your initial transfer credit evaluation.
  • Have a conferred CCAF AAS degree in one of our 11 approved Air Force Speciality Code (AFSC) related programs listed on the AU-ABC Transfer Credit Homepage.

Q:  How do I participate in the AU-ABC Program with CCAF and APUS?

A:  After you have applied for Admission at APUS, and chosen your linking AU-ABC program you may begin the Transfer Credit Evaluation process to have those credits transferred over into your new BA/BS Degree requirements.  Click here for steps on “GETTING STARTED” with the Transfer Credit Evaluation process: http://www.apus.edu/TransferCredit/index.htm.

Q:  I’ve already had my initial transfer credit evaluation completed.  Why am I not eligible for credit to apply from the new CCAF AU-ABC (Air University Associate to Baccalaureate) Program?

A:  An articulation agreement or MOU between academic and/or training institutions is negotiated in order to offer credit to students who would not normally receive this credit under standard transfer credit policies.  It is industry standard that these agreements are only in effect for students who transfer to the receiving school AFTER the agreement is signed as transfer credit analysis is part of a student’s initial admissions process.

Students who completed their transfer admission (TCE) to APUS before this agreement was signed were admitted under program, admissions and transfer credit policies in place at the time, and have already had their CCAF credits transferred.

Q:  Why can’t I receive credit from the new CCAF AU-ABC (Air University Associate to Baccalaureate) Program even though I’m in a different degree program?

A:  Unfortunately you have elected not to participate in the terms of the agreement by selecting a degree that was not included in the agreement.  We will follow course by course evaluations as well as any ACE recommendations for these courses since you will fall under normal transfer credit policy.

You can check in the ACE guide online and will see if they have evaluated some of the courses you completed. Here is a link to ACE military guides: http://militaryguides.acenet.edu/.

You have the option of changing your program of study in order to take advantage of the agreement; however this can only be done after the guidance of your APUS Student Advisor.  For questions about changing your APUS Academic Program contact counseling@apus.edu.

Q:  How much Transfer Credit will I get under the CCAF AU-ABC Program?

A:  Students under this agreement will receive a minimum of 61 semester hours total transfer credit toward the APUS Bachelor’s Degree.  Of these credits:

  • a minimum of 12 semester hours will be applied to the General Education area
  • a minimum of 9 semester hours will be applied to the Core or Major area
  • all other credit will be applied according to standard policy
  • a maximum of 60 semester hours will remain for completion of the Bachelor’s Degree

Specific details regarding course equivalents as well as remaining APUS course requirements will vary per student; and will be detailed on the Academic Plan once an official Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) is completed.

As all APUS approved programs are classified as “Category I”, eligible students are guaranteed that no more that 60 semester hours need to be taken with APUS towards achievement of the related Bachelors degree.

Q:  From where will my AU-ABC transfer credits come?

A:  Since your AAS degree from CCAF is not based solely on CCAF credit, the AU-ABC agreement guarantees that you will receive a total of 61 semester hours of transfer credit from all sources listed.  This also includes credits that you have transferred into CCAF from AMU.

For questions about the AU-ABC program and APUS, please send an email to articulations@apus.edu.
