East Los Angeles College LASD Detective College

It is the student's responsibility to alert APUS that s/he may fall under a current Internal Recommendation policy by emailing his/her Student ID and the name of the Internal Recommendation to articulations@apus.edu.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate students must be pursuing one of the following programs at the University (maximum semester hours of transfer credit from this internal policy):

  • Any undergraduate level degree program (10 SH)

Students may maximize transfer credit from this internal policy by pursuing the following program:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a General concentration

Guidelines:

  • A student has met the terms of the agreement and is eligible for possible Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) review if they completed LASD Detective College through East Los Angeles College (ELAC) and they have not yet had an Initial TCE completed.
  • If an Initial TCE has already been prepared and the student completed LASD Detective College through ELAC after the official evaluation was completed, they can send in the updated paperwork.  A TCE Update Request Form must also be submitted to initiate the review process.
  • If a student changes their degree program, they are eligible for a review of their ELAC transcript for possible transfer credit.
  • If a student has already had an Initial TCE completed, their documentation has already been reviewed, and no additional paperwork is to be submitted, they are NOT eligible for this internal policy.

LASD Detective College Completion Requirements:

  • Students must have successfully completed the following four ELAC courses with a passing grade of "C" or better to qualify for this Internal Recommendation policy:
    • Basic Criminal Investigations
    • Analytical Interviewing
    • Intermediate Detective Concepts
    • Advanced Detective Concepts

  • If all four of the ELAC courses listed above have not been successfully completed, a student does not qualify for this Internal Recommendation policy. However, students may still have their official ELAC transcript evaluated for possible transfer credit based on existing course-by-course TCE policies.

Students must send in an official transcript from East Los Angeles College LASD Detective College along with a TCE Application.  Documentation of successful completion may make a student eligible for the following transfer credit recommendations depending on their specific undergraduate degree program requirements:
