Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) Crew Advancement Program (CAP)

It is the student's responsibility to alert APUS that s/he may fall under a current Internal Recommendation Policy by emailing his/her Student ID and the name of the Internal Recommendation to articulations@apus.edu.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate students must be pursuing one of the following programs at the University (maximum semester hours of transfer credit from this internal policy):

  • Any Undergraduate level degree program (49 SH*)

Students may maximize transfer credit from this internal policy by pursuing one of the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Arts in General Studies
  • Bachelor of Arts in Management
  • Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
  • Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies

*Per APUS policy, students enrolled in an Associate degree program cannot receive more than 45 SH of total transfer credit.

Guidelines:

  • A student has met the terms of the agreement and is eligible for possible Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) review if they completed the entire Crew Advancement Program (CAP) - comprised of all courses listed in the table below - through the Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) and they have not yet had an Initial TCE completed.
  • If an Initial TCE has already been prepared and the student completed the CAP through the GMATS after the official evaluation was completed, they can send in the updated paperwork.  A TCE Update Request Form must also be submitted to initiate the review process.
  • If a student changes their degree program, they are eligible for a review of their GMATS transcript and/or certificate(s) for possible transfer credit.
  • If a student has already had an Initial TCE completed, their documentation has already been reviewed, and no additional paperwork is to be submitted, they are NOT eligible for this internal policy.

Students must send in an official Global Maritime and Transportation School transcript and/or certificate(s) of completion from the Global Maritime and Transportation School along with a TCE Application.  The table below lists the courses contained in the Crew Advancement Program; documentation of successful completion of all the indicated courses may make a student eligible for the transfer credit recommendations which follow, depending on undergraduate degree program requirements.
