Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) Engineering Crew Advancement Program (ECAP)

It is the student's responsibility to alert APUS that s/he may fall under a current Internal Recommendation Policy by emailing his/her Student ID and the name of the Internal Recommendation to articulations@apus.edu.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate students must be pursuing one of the following programs at the University (maximum semester hours of transfer credit from this internal policy):

  • Any Undergraduate level degree program (40 SH)

Students may maximize transfer credit from this internal policy by pursuing one of the following programs:

  • For students who have completed Phase I only: any Bachelor's degree program.

  • For students who have completed both Phase I and Phase II: any Bachelor's degree program with 36 or more hours of Elective requirements.

Guidelines:

  • A student has met the terms of the agreement and is eligible for possible Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) review if they completed in its entirety Phase I and/or Phase II of the Engineering Crew Advancement Program (ECAP) through the Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) and they have not yet had an initial TCE completed.
  • If an initial TCE has already been prepared and the student completed the ECAP through the GMATS after the official evaluation was completed, they can send in the updated paperwork.  A TCE Update Request Form must also be submitted to initiate the review process.
  • If a student changes their degree program, they are eligible for a review of their GMATS transcript and/or certificate(s) for possible transfer credit.
  • If a student has already had an Initial TCE completed, their documentation has already been reviewed, and no additional paperwork is to be submitted, they are NOT eligible for this internal policy.

Students must send in an official GMATS transcript and/or ECAP certificate(s) of completion along with a TCE Application.  Documentation of successful completion of Phase I and/or Phase II of the ECAP - in their entirety - may make a student eligible for the following transfer credit recommendations, depending on the student's specific undergraduate degree program requirements.

GMATS - Engineering Crew Advancement Program (ECAP)

Entire Phase must have been completed to be eligible for the Transfer Credit recommendation.  Students may receive transfer credit for both Phases if the entire program has been completed.

 Phase I:

16 Semester Hours toward Elective requirements

 Phase II:
4 Semester Hours of Science with Lab - may be applied to General Education Science requirements
20 Semester Hours toward Elective requirements

Please Note:

This Internal Recommendation Policy is valid for listed programs which may be reviewed each Catalog year and credit recommendations may change if the programs or internal recommendation policies are altered and/or re-evaluated.
