Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS)
It is the student's responsibility to alert APUS that s/he may fall under a current Internal Recommendation Policy by emailing his/her Student ID and the name of the Internal Recommendation to articulations@apus.edu.
Eligibility:
Graduate students must be pursuing one of the following at the University (semester hour maximum):
- Any Graduate level degree (15 SH)
Students may maximize transfer credit from this internal policy by pursuing one of the following programs (semester hour maximum):
- Master of Arts in National Security Studies (15 SH)
- Master of Arts in Military Studies with a Concentration in Joint Warfare (15 SH)
Guidelines:
- A student has met the terms of the agreement and is eligible for Transfer Credit Evaluation review if they completed the specific course through the Joint Forces Staff College and they have not yet had an Initial TCE completed.
- If an initial evaluation has already been prepared and the student completed the specific course through the Joint Forces Staff College after the initial transfer credit evaluation was completed, they can send in the updated paperwork. A TCE Update Request Form must also be submitted to initiate the review process.
- If a student changes their degree program, they are eligible for a review of their Joint Forces Staff College transcript for possible transfer credit.
- If a student has already had an Initial TCE completed, their documentation has already been reviewed, and no additional paperwork is to be submitted, they are NOT eligible for transfer credit.
Students must send in an OFFICIAL transcript from Joint Forces Staff College along with a Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) Application. Transfer credit can be applied toward the following APUS courses depending on the specific graduate degree program requirements:
(No more than 15 semester hours* of total transfer credit may be awarded, and a maximum of 9 semester hours from the following may be applied toward the CORE/MAJOR requirements of a degree program.)
- MILS521 - Strategy, Tactics, & the Operational Art
- MILS561 - Joint Warfare Planning and Implementation
- MILS562 - Joint Warfare Command and Control
- NSEC501 - Institutions of National Security
- NSEC503 - U.S. National Security
*The amount of transfer credit awarded cannot exceed the total amount of credit indicated on the submitted Joint Forces Staff College transcript.

This Internal Recommendation Policy is valid for listed programs which will be reviewed each Catalog year and credit recommendations may change if the programs or internal recommendation policies are altered and/or re-evaluated.
