Students who joined the Army after October 1981 can obtain a transcript of education and training courses from the Army/ACE Registry Transcript Service (AARTS). The AARTS transcripts are provided by the Army free of charge.
Eligibility for an AARTS transcript (students who do not meet the criteria below must submit the DD295, DD2856 or DD214 to obtain an AARTS transcript): Regular Army - Have an enlisted service record
- Have a BASD (or PEBD) of October 1, 1981 or later
Army National Guard - Were on the active rolls as of January 1, 1993.
US Army Reserve - Not Active Guard Reserve (AGR)
- Were on the active rolls as of April 1, 1997
Items needed to obtain an AARTS transcript: - Name
- Social Security Number
- BASD or PEBD
- Current mailing address
- Signature (mailed requests only)
- Mailing address of American Public University System

Students should be certain to submit the most current AARTS transcript to be awarded the maximum number of transfer credits. AARTS receives information directly from official Army military personnel records, and the transcript contains the following items: - Current rank, military status, time in service
- Current academic level completed, additional skill identifiers (ASI), and skill qualification identifiers (SQI)
- Formal military courses, military occupational specialties (MOS) held
- Standardized test scores
- Descriptions and credit recommendations developed by ACE
