Army

Students who joined the Army after October 1981 can obtain a transcript of education and training courses from the Army/ACE Registry Transcript Service (AARTS), provided by the Army free of charge. AARTS receives information directly from official Army personnel records to generate the transcript, which contains the following items:

  • Current rank, military status, and time in service
     
  • Current academic level completed, additional skill identifiers (ASI), and skill qualification identifiers (SQI)
     
  • Formal military courses, military occupational specialties (MOS) held
     
  • Standardized test scores
     
  • Descriptions and credit recommendations developed by the American Council on Education (ACE)
     

Please Note: Students should submit their most current AARTS transcript to be certain the maximum amount of transfer credit may be awarded.
 

Eligibility for an AARTS transcript:

  • Regular Army:
     
                  Have an enlisted service record
              Have a Basic Active Service Date (BASD) of October 1, 1981 or later
                   or 
              Have a Pay Entry Basic Date (PEBD) of October 1, 1981 or later
     
  • Army National Guard:
     
                  Were on the active rolls as of January 1, 1993
     
  • US Army Reserve:
     
              Not Active Guard Reserve (AGR)
              Were on the active rolls as of April 1, 1997
     
  • Students who do not meet the above criteria must submit a DD295, DD2856, or DD214 to obtain an AARTS transcript.
     

How to order an AARTS transcript to be reviewed for possible transfer credit:

  • Connect to the Army's secure AARTS Transcript Delivery Web Site, https://aartstranscript.army.mil/
     
  • Click on the "Official Transcript" dog tag in the left navigation menu, then enter the below information in the corresponding fields:
     
              Social Security Number (SSN)
              Birth Date (DOB)
              BASD or PEBD
     
  • Click the "Continue" button and read the information on the next page.
     
  • Under the "Select Institution" drop-down menu, select our university, then click the "Submit" button.
     

If the web site is not working:

  • Students may request an AARTS transcript by sending an e-mail directly to the AARTS Operations Center at hrc.tagd.aarts@conus.army.mil
     
  • The e-mail request will need to include the following personal information:
     
              Full name
              Last 4 digits of SSN
              DOB
              BASD or PEBD
     
  • Ensure the e-mail request specifies the AARTS transcript should be sent to our university at:
     
              APUS
              Attn: Student Record
              10110 Battleview Parkway, Suite 114
              Manassas, VA 20109
     

Additional Army schools and training may have potential for transfer credit, but cannot be obtained through the TRA process. Below are some examples we have received from students and been able to review; however, this is not an all inclusive list. Please visit or contact an Education Center for information on obtaining documentation of completed training or course work that does not appear on an AARTS transcript which can be submitted for transfer credit evaluation.
