Synopsis of Role:

The Associate Student Advisor serves as a knowledgeable resource for students regarding basic academic advising process and policy.  The position supports Academic Advisors as aligned by discipline.  The Associate Student Advisor fosters and promotes students’ academic progress and encourages retention by working on projects and basic advising needs as initiated by the Lead Academic Advisor in their school.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports retention efforts from the Advising team, including student contact prior to disenrollment, lag in academic progress, program deadline concerns, etc.
  • Communicates with undergraduate students who receive RQ295 waivers during their initial enrollment to familiarize students with advising services and resources.
  • Initiates work load and work flow for Advisors by monitoring program change assignment and the general email box.
  • Responds to basic advising emails sent to the department mailbox.
  • Addresses phone and email escalations from the Student Support team.
  • Processes program change requests prior to initial enrollment.
  • Provides back-up to Advisors who are out of the office, including program change review and RQ295 inquiries.
  • Participates in training class for Content Management System (CMS).
  • Maintains advising support tools including internet and intranet resources.
  • Assists the Advisors with reinstatement course mapping for returning students.
  • Reviews and processes weekly course registration verifications.
