Synopsis of Role:
Develop, maintain and expand relationships with private and public entities in the fields of sports and allied health, as well as related markets in order to increase awareness of APUS programs and offerings. The Marketing Manager for Sports & Allied Health Markets will provide key input for developing the APUS marketing plan and will provide insight for advertising and networking with sports and allied health professionals. This position will work closely with athletic and health organizations to form partnerships and ensure representation and dissemination of APUS program materials in appropriate venues to increase awareness of APUS academic programs. In managing relationships with various organizations, this individual will work to develop partnerships and sponsorships for APUS conferences, symposia and other academic events and activities. This position will also be responsible for providing input for targeted marketing campaigns to reach specific audiences within these markets.
Essential Functions:
- Initiate, develop, maintain and expand relationships with sports and allied health organizations.
- Work specifically to increase the number of civilian students in APUS programs related to the needs of each of the sports and allied health markets.
- Establish and maintain key partnerships and other strategic relationships.
- Prepare briefings and present information to individuals and groups of varying sizes.
- Provide critical input to marketing activities.
- Develop innovative ways to deliver information to target.
- Work with APUS departments and educational entities to ensure a smooth process around tuition payment and any required reporting.
- Provide feedback and input from customers and potential customers in these markets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- External contacts will include private and public sector professionals at all levels, human resource departments, education and training departments, as well as prospective students.
- Internal contacts may include fellow APUS employees up to the CEO and Board of Directors level, including students, alumni, and prospective students.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Must have experience within sports and public health markets (such as kinesiology, fitness, nutrition, medical, allied health, wellness, etc.) in corporate, nonprofit and/or government environments.
- Must have familiarity with professional associations, training methods and certifications within respective industries.
- Must have familiarity with the general trends in the sports and allied health industries, as well as offerings, and organizational structures.
- Demonstrated experience in relationship management.
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Prior marketing and account management experience preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and use of the Internet
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in an office environment in Manassas, Virginia.
- May require up to 35% local and distance travel at times.
