Synopsis of Role:
Provide status of in-progress issues and enhancements to the business and aid the business in the setting of priorities.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the business with the creation of project proposals for submission to the Executive Committee.
- Analyze business practices throughout APUS departments and utilize this information to influence system enhancements and maintenance requests.
- Participate in the business analysis process to define the functional and detailed requirements and work with the development team on the design specifications and approach.
- Meet with the department contacts and reporting team to create functional design documents for new reports providing data mapping and report layout specifications.
- Responsible for leading discovery sessions and for working with the Project Manager to publish meeting minutes and assure all action items are completed in the timeframe set.
- Consult with business owners to obtain additional information during system development in order to evaluate an alternative approach.
- Conduct system demonstrations and coordinate the creation of user guides.
- Assist the project team and key stakeholders in the review of test cases.
- Prepare User Acceptance Testing (UAT) documentation and leads the user acceptance testing effort with the responsible business owner.
- Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.
- Work with other Business Analysts to get a complete picture of the impacted processes.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- BS or BA is required.
- IT certification or understanding of analytical techniques preferred.
- 1 to 5 years experience in the Information Technology or Education disciplines required.
- Exposure to design methodology such as Agile is preferred.
- Experience with application design/development of web applications desired.
- Understanding of relational database concepts and SQL preferred.
- Experience with Data Warehouse applications is desirable.
- Microsoft Office experience (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Visio and MS Project skills preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Standard office environment in Charles Town, WV.
- Must be able to travel to all APUS offices (Charles Town, West Virginia and Manassas, Virginia).
