Synopsis of Role:
Installs, configures and maintains organization's network and Windows 200X-based servers and file storage servers. Works in a quality service approach within the work area to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction, system integrity, performance and security. Will work in team environment supporting applications development and production systems operations, including backup to database administration, voice, systems administration and help desk. Will work with other team members to maintain network and server infrastructure, including routers, switches, network appliances (load balancers, firewalls, etc.), Windows servers and security infrastructure.
Essential Functions:
- Provide support for production enterprise environments located in Charles Town, West Virginia, and Co-location facility, support for our disaster recovery site, and other branch offices.
- Implement, manage and troubleshoot servers, including backup servers and their operating systems and software.
- Implement, manage and troubleshoot all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and UPSs.
- Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Manage updates, patching and upgrades to ensure system availability.
- Monitor and measure performance and costs through regular reporting and summaries of the systems including availability, usage and capacity.
- Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs.
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve problems affecting server performance, efficiency, and availability.
- Implement new hardware and software projects, providing documentation and procedures based on functionality of the environment.
- Assist in developing enterprise network and server solutions as per requirements including the creation of functional requirement documents, project plans, and detailed implementation plans.
- Ensure 24x7x365 availability for identified internal mission critical network services.
- Develop and document instructions and guidelines to perform the functions assigned.
- Perform backup/recovery and archiving.
- Provide backup support to other Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Voice and PC Technicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associates or B.S. MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with Onbase configuration and administration.
- 3 -5 years of experience in a Microsoft/Cisco environment including some exposure to virtualization technologies.
- Knowledge of SQL including administration and query writing.
- Knowledge of Active Directory.
- Strong knowledge of Terminal Server/Citrix environments.
- Familiarity with Dell hardware and EMC storage desired.
- Experience providing end user training.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Network Administration.
- Preferred certifications: MSCE, A+, I-NET+, CCNA, completion of Hyland training track.
- Helpful certifications: CCNP, CCIE, MCP, MCSA, MCSE+I.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Standard office and data center environment.
- Ability to lift boxes up to 50 lbs required.
- Must be flexible and agile enough to access tight spaces in telephone closets and around furniture.
- Travel to data centers and branch offices at multiple locations required.
- Core coverage hours of support are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm but will be part of the rotating 24x7x365 on call schedule.
