Synopsis of Role:
APUS is seeking a Senior Analyst experienced in developing practical systems applying Artificial Intelligence / Expert Systems to join our software development team in order to radically enhance our internal processes to allow APUS to scale with the increased growth of the University. The candidate should have strong analytical and leadership skills with the ability to understand and interpret customer requirements working with the Business Analysts, develop business solutions that reduce the workload on the staff while remaining within the overall architectural structure, provide team guidance and mentoring in the technologies being leveraged and work with the Project Manager to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Essential Functions:
- Enhances internal processes to allow APUS to scale with the increased growth of the University.
- Participates in product design and planning.
- Translates design requirements and specifications into successful implementations.
- Mentors developers less familiar with the technologies.
- Helps to guide the process development and system approach for areas of the business that can be aided in their ability to scale by systems that leverage Expert/Artificial Intelligence technologies.

- Demonstrated superior analytical skills, including the ability to interpret customer business needs, in order to ensure the resulting product meets the business need.
- Superior communication skills. Strong ability to communicate with the business, Business Analysts, and the IT Department.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Able to act as a leader in a team environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computational linguistics, informatics, computer science or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years experience performing analysis and development in an NLP environment.
- 5+ years of prior professional experience including system analysis, software design and development of Expert/Artificial Intelligence systems.
- Experience translating design requirements and specifications into successful implementations.
- Experience creating external design documentation.
- Experience in business process development and reengineering, budgeting, resource allocation and administrative operations.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Standard office in Charles Town, WV.
- Limited travel within 75 miles to other office locations.
