Dr. John Hough - Vice President, Community College Relations & Outreach

Dr. John Hough is Vice President of Community College Relations and Outreach. Dr. Hough joined APUS in 2008 to assist the university with building positive relationships with the state of West Virginia and the local communities surrounding our Charles Town campus. Dr. Hough also administers the community college outreach department.
Prior to joining APUS, Dr. Hough served as Executive Director of the Regional Educational Service Agency VIII, which provided educational services to the eight eastern panhandle counties of West Virginia.
Dr. Hough has over 35 years of K – 12 and higher education experience. During his career, he has served as the Associate Dean of Academics at Marshall University’s College of Education, Dean of Marshall Community and Technical College, Executive Director of Professional Preparation at the West Virginia Department of Education, and Executive Assistant to the West Virginia Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Hough holds a doctorate's in Education from Oklahoma State University in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, Dr. Hough holds a master's in Guidance and Counseling from Emporia State University and a bachelor's in Political Science and Secondary Education from the University of Tulsa.
