Mr. Joseph Sladki - Vice President, Facilities and Real Estate
Mr. Joseph A. Sladki is currently Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate at American Public University System. He is responsible for the management and maintenance of over 180,000SF of office space, negotiating property leases and overseeing the construction or renovation of acquired properties, most recently, the new Academic Center in Charles Town, WV.
Mr. Sladki began his career with IBM in what was then known as the Government, Educational and Medical (GEM) Region in Washington, DC. He served in roles including computer operations, programming, application design and development, systems engineering and national technical support representative. He left IBM in 1993 after 26 years of service.
In 1993, Mr. Sladki joined Card Establishment Services, where he was the Director of Network Support for the 4 geographically dispersed network centers across the United States. He was responsible for the software support of the systems designed to capture credit card transactions from merchants around the world, put it in a regulated format, and relay that information to banks.
Mr. Sladki joined APUS as Director of IT and Network Operations in December of 2002. He used his prior experience to help design the first iteration of a multi-site, fault tolerant network in his role as Director of IT and Network Operations. One of the ancillary duties included responsibility for all APUS facilities. In mid-2005, Mr. Sladki turned over all IT and Network Operations responsibilities to a new CIO and became Director of Facilities.
