1/16/10 - Dr. Robin Berenson, Director of the APUS Management Program, was the featured guest on “The Career Clinic®,” a nationally syndicated, call-in radio talk show offering advice and perspective on jobs and careers. An archived podcast of the broadcast can be accessed at www.am1100.tv after January 30.
1/13/10 - Former NASA Astronaut, Jim “JR” Reilly, PhD, has joined APUS as Dean of the School of Science and Technology. Dr. Reilly will manage seven program areas in the School, including Math, Space Studies, Environmental Science and the development of future programs. Read the press release here.
1/12/09 - APUS faculty member, James F. Smith, Ph.D., P.E., Captain USNR (Retired), presented his research on airports’ roles in responding to disasters at the 89th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies in Washington, D.C. Dr. Smith is currently conducting a new study about heightening the role that airports play in disasters.
12/18/09 – Dr. Phil Ice, the Director of Course Design, Research & Development for American Public University System, presented research results at a higher learning conference about audio feedback, A World in Your Ear. His study of more than 1000 students showed that students preferred different types of feedback at different levels of detail: audio feedback for broad, overall themes; a mixture of audio and written for mid-level feedback about specific arguments in the text; and written feedback for detailed feedback such as grammatical corrections and citation styles.
12/18/09 – Jim Mowrer, 2009 AMU graduate, is named Special Assistant to Secretary of the Army. He was recommended for his new position by the Office of the Vice President. Mowrer recently returned from Iraq where he served for eight months as an intelligence analyst and civilian advisor to the Multi National Corps in Baghdad. His primary focus was on Iraq’s international borders and external influences from surrounding nations as he coordinated intelligence with U. S. and foreign intelligence services.
12/15/09 - Col Ed Walker, USAF, 2005 AMU graduate - MA Military Studies - Defense Management, Barksdale AFB was nominated for promotion to brigadier general.
