APUS Charters 366th Chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society

Charles Town, WV, June 3, 2008 – American Public University System (APUS) is proud to announce the chartering of a chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Golden Key International Honour Society is a global nonprofit organization that provides not only academic recognition to top-performing students in the top 15% of their class, but also leadership opportunities, community service, career networking, and scholarships. APUS is an online university system that serves more than 33,000 adult students living in all 50 states and more than 100 foreign countries.

“We consider it a privilege to be one of the first online universities to offer a Golden Key charter,” said Wallace E. Boston, Jr., president and chief executive officer of APUS. “This is testament to our strong commitment to educating those who serve at every level.”

Golden Key International Honour Society was founded in 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Society has over 360 chapters at colleges and universities in the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa.  Membership into the Society is by invitation only to students in all fields of study. The APUS chapter currently has 640 members.

"Golden Key is proud to recognize the high-achieving student members at American Public University System with outstanding benefits that will motivate and prepare them for even greater future success," said Alex Perwich, Golden Key Chief Executive Officer. "As a West Point graduate and retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel I would be remiss if I did not send my personal thank you and warmest regards to the service men and women (nearly 70% of you) who populate APUS."

A Charter Ceremony for the APUS chapter will be held in conjunction with 2009 Spring Commencement. For more information about Golden Key International Honour Society, visit www.goldenkey.org.
