President of APUS Authors New Blog
Wallace E. Boston, Jr., Unveils wallyboston.com
Charles Town, W.Va., June 10, 2008 – To provide a forum for discussing higher education issues, Wallace E. Boston, Jr., president and CEO of American Public University System (APUS), has started authoring a blog. Wallyboston.com will cover a myriad of topics in higher education, including the value of a college degree, affordability, the increasing need to understand cultures and the issue of access to higher education. APUS is an online university system serving more than 33,000 adult students living in all 50 states and more than 100 foreign countries.
Boston hopes that the blog will foster dialogue about important issues with education professionals, students, staff, and anyone interested in higher education. He’ll provide insights based on his experiences and interests and in turn, hopes to learn from others’ perspectives.
“This blog will serve as my dialogue with the broader community about issues I feel are important to higher education,” said Boston. “I invite those interested to comment on my posts and offer topics you would like to discuss.”
Boston has been president of APUS since 2004. He has a background in financial and operational management and began his tenure at APUS as the Chief Financial Officer in 2002. Boston is a member of the West Virginia Governor's Advisory Council for Technology in Education and serves as a Board member of the Education Alliance, a non-profit organization promoting public/private partnerships serving K-12 public schools in West Virginia.
Boston is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He earned an A.B. degree in History from Duke University and an MBA in Marketing and Accounting from Tulane University's Freeman School of Business Administration.
