American Public University and American Military University Announce Master’s Degree Program in Information Technology

New Graduate Program Offers Four Specialized Concentrations for IT Professionals; Enrollment Available in September 2010

Charles Town, W.Va., June 24, 2010 –  American Public University (APU) and American Military University (AMU), member institutions of the American Public University System (APUS), today announced they will begin enrolling students in September, 2010 in a new Master of Science (M.S.) degree program in Information Technology.

The 36 credit-hour IT program will include six core courses and a capstone course designed to integrate and apply the knowledge gained. Students will be able to choose from the following four program concentrations designed to address the different needs of IT professionals:

“Information technology is the lifeblood of many successful organizations, and is also a critical infrastructure for our global economy. The increase in cybercrime has made IT security a national priority,” said Daniel Benjamin, director of the APUS Information Technology Program.

“The confluence of these trends makes the M.S. in Information Technology more helpful than ever for IT professionals, managers, directors and CIOs who want to be effective leaders in their field, and APUS is fully prepared to meet the anticipated demand for such programs,” Benjamin added. He is on the Executive Board of the Federal Information Systems Security Educators Association and on the Executive Committee of the Association of Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group for IT Education.
