American Public University System Announces Recent Executive Speaking Forums and Outside Board Appointments

Charles Town, W.Va., October 11, 2010 – American Public University System (APUS) today announced that senior faculty and executive staff are participating in several upcoming industry conferences and educational organizations focused on the pursuit of excellence in online education. The announcement follows APUS’s recent recognition by the Sloan Consortium for an Effective Practice Award.

Ongoing engagement with industry peers supports the university’s core mission to provide quality distance learning programs to adult learners, according to President and CEO Dr. Wallace E. Boston. “In order to accomplish this goal, we continually strive to create the most interactive, effective learning environment for our students,” he said. “This enables us to effectively meet our students’ diverse educational goals by expanding access to affordable, quality education.”

Dr. Boston will be joined by APUS Senior VP and Academic Dean Dr. Karan Powell and APUS Director of Course Design Dr. Phil Ice to collaboratively present three concurrent sessions at the upcoming E-Learn conference, October 18-22 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla. E-Learn provides a forum for government, healthcare, education, and business professionals to discuss the latest research, development, applications, issues, and strategies, to explore new technologies, and to identify solutions for today’s challenges related to online learning.  The sessions include:
