APUS Brings Students, Alumni, and Employers Together to Provide Enhanced Career Advancement Opportunities

Charles Town, W.Va., December 2, 2010 – The national job market for college graduates should rebound slightly in 2011, with overall hiring expected to increase three percent, and bachelor’s-level and MBA-level hiring both rising 10 percent, according to a new Collegiate Employment Research Institute survey of 4,600 employers. This year, American Public University System (APUS) has partnered with more than 85 public- and private-sector employers to assist its more than 77,000 students and working alumni worldwide in leveraging their APU degree in an improving economy to identify and secure new career opportunities.

“This forecasted hiring increase is an encouraging sign not only for our students about to complete their studies, but also for those already in the workforce and seeking to further advance their career,” said Grace Williamson, senior program manager for APUS career services.  

APUS hosts virtual career fairs for students and alumni to view job postings, apply for positions, upload resumes and meet with recruiters. More than 600 individuals participated in the inaugural event last summer to meet virtually/online with dozens of recruiters in a setting where distance and location did not hinder participation.  APUS’s representative employer partnerships currently include the following organizations, among many others:
