International Summit Inspires Area Leaders in their Fight Against Human Trafficking

About once a month, a small group of 10 to 15 residents from the Eastern Panhandle gather to discuss an issue that most people think only happens overseas: human trafficking. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery equating to a multibillion dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 20.9 million people around the world. Traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex or providing labor services against his or her will.
