US Army Lieutenant General Kenneth W. Hunzeker (Ret.) to Present Keynotes at 2012 APUS Commencement
CHARLES TOWN, WV, May 8, 2012—American Public University System (APUS) today announced that Lieutenant General (Ret.) Kenneth W. Hunzeker, president of ITT Exelis Mission Systems, will deliver keynote remarks at its 16th annual commencement, Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The accomplishments of more than 6,700 students will be recognized at separate graduate and undergraduate ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. EST and 2:30 p.m. EST, respectively.
General Hunzeker spent 35 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army and has more than 20 years of experience in program management, strategy development and finance, working with key decision makers within the Army, Department of Defense, Office of Management and Budget, and Congress. In his current role, he is responsible for the management and overall operation of Mission Systems’ global facilities and projects, which include more than 20,000 employees and subcontractors operating in more than 500 worldwide locations in 18 countries, and four continents.

Prior to his current executive post, General Hunzeker most recently served as Deputy Commander, US Forces – Iraq. During a previous tour, he commanded the Civilian Police Transition Team responsible for training and equipping over 400,000 Iraqi security forces. He also served as the Vice Director for Force Structure, Resources and Assessment, J-8, The Joint Staff, Washington, DC and commanded the 1st Infantry Division as well as 5th US Corps, both in US Army Europe. A West Point graduate, he also holds two masters’ degrees in Systems Technology (Command, Control and Communications) from the Naval Post-Graduate School and in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University.
