APUS Joins Scholarship America Network to Help Bring College Within Reach to More Adult Learners

Charles Town, W. Va., and Saint Peter, Minn., May 7, 2015 –  American Public University System (APUS) and Scholarship America today announced that APUS will join the Scholarship Management Services (SMS) tuition reduction network. SMS helps corporations, foundations, and individuals create and manage education assistance programs that have impacted more than 1.3 million students worldwide.

“Scholarship America shares our vision of making affordable, quality higher education more accessible for working adults,” said Mike Harbert, vice president, strategic markets and relationships. “We’re pleased to join them in helping students of its SMS network fulfill their college dreams by maximizing tuition benefits for their company clients as well as reducing cost of education for their employees and family members.”

Scholarship America's mission is to make postsecondary success possible for all students through scholarships and educational support. The organization’s vision is one of a world in which the completion of higher education with manageable debt is a reality for all.

“At Scholarship America, we’re degree driven – committed to helping students complete their college education and earn their degrees. We’re very pleased that American Public University System has joined forces with us to help make that possible for working adults,” said Lauren A. Segal, president & CEO of Scholarship America.

The agreement will provide SMS network clients with access to more than 190 fully online APUS degree and certificate programs offered by American Public University (APU) and American Military University (AMU). Participating SMS clients will receive additional cost savings through a tuition grant and a waived transfer credit evaluation fee.
