American Public University System Partners with National Contract Management Association to Provide Enhanced Online Education Opportunities to NCMA Members
Ashburn, Va., and Charles Town, W. Va., June 7, 2016 —The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and American Public University System (APUS) today announced a strategic partnership to provide enhanced online education opportunities for procurement and acquisition professionals worldwide.
Under the terms of the agreement, NCMA members will be able to enroll in affordable, quality online courses to apply toward more than 190 APUS certificate and degree programs. Additionally, more than 100 APUS courses are eligible for continuing professional education credits toward the following NCMA certifications—Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM), and Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM).
"In partnership with American Public University System, NCMA is helping provide access to high-quality educational opportunities that will allow our dedicated membership to advance their careers and contribute to the success of their organization’s mission,” said NCMA Executive Director Michael Fischetti. “At NCMA, our goal is to advance the contract management profession through advocacy and the execution of programs to connect NCMA members and enable their professional development. We are confident this partnership will bring substantial competitive advantages to contract managers nationwide and that the alliance will help foster a high-performing workforce capable of achieving today’s missions and meeting tomorrow’s challenges.”
Aligned with the NCMA® Contract Management Body of Knowledge, APUS’s comprehensive online curriculum addresses the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to help succeed in today’s increasingly competitive procurement industry, including within federal agencies or military and civilian defense organizations. Faculty include scholar-practitioners in such organizations as the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, State Department, CIA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the United Nations, among others.
“We’re very pleased to work with NCMA to support the specialized professional development needs of those working to enter the procurement field or further enhance their existing industry expertise,” said DeAnn Wandler, NCMA board of advisor member and senior manager, corporate and strategic relationships, for APUS. “With the establishment of our new Center for Corporate and Professional Development, it’s ideal timing for a progressive partnership. As experts in serving adult learners, we can collaborate closely with NCMA and/or its member organizations to design a customized training solution to fit their specific needs in virtually any subject area.”
The APUS Bachelor of Arts in Government Contracting and Acquisition program addresses the procurement process, FAR, DFARS, cost and price analysis, negotiations and more, while the MBA with a concentration in Government Contracting and Acquisition covers a range of topics from FAR requirements, unallowable costs and new acquisition regulations to contract reforms and project and risk management.
