About the Faculty
The AMU faculty brings both real-world experience and advanced academic knowledge to the AMU Intelligence curriculum. Many are executives in government, business and non-profit organizations.
Dr. Michael W. Collier holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Florida International University. His Ph.D. major is Foreign Policy and Security Studies and his Ph.D. minor is Research Methodology. He is an area studies specialist in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Dr. Collier also holds a BS from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and an MS in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College. Dr. Collier is a retired US Coast Guard Commander. During his Coast Guard career he was a deepwater operations specialist and intelligence sub-specialist. He served five tours of sea duty including commanding USCGC Thetis (WMEC 910). Dr. Collier is currently a full-time AMU Professor of National Security and Intelligence Studies.
His latest books include: Political Corruption in the Caribbean Basin, Constructing a Theory to Combat Corruption (Routledge, 2005) and Terrorism Preparedness in Florida, Improved Since 9/11, But Far From Ready (FIU, 2005).
