About the Faculty

The AMU Intelligence faculty brings relevant theory and real-world experience to the AMU Intelligence curriculum. 21 of the 22 professors teaching in the Intelligence program have served or are serving as intelligence officers within the intelligence community.

Dr. Jonathan S. Lockwood is currently a Colonel in the United States Army Reserves and serves as a liaison with the Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Directorate from the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Joint Task Force Counterterrorism Center. He served over 13 years on active duty in the U.S. Army in a variety of intelligence roles, and was selected as a fellow in the Director of Central Intelligence Exceptional Intelligence Analyst Program. In addition, he served as the course director for intelligence and national military strategy at the Joint Military Intelligence College’s PGIP- Reserve Program. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in international affairs from the University of Miami, an M.S.S.I from the Joint Military Intelligence College, and a B.A. in History and Psychology from the University of Tampa. Lockwood is also the creator of the Lockwood Analytical Method for Prediction (LAMP) for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) analysis, which is widely recognized throughout the intelligence community. He is an adjunct faculty member within the Department of National Security, Intelligence and Space Studies at American Military University where he currently teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate intelligence courses.
