Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC)

The University is a proud member of the SOC Consortium, as well as the SOCCOAST, SOCMAR, and SOCNAV Degree Network Systems.

SOC member schools recognize the problems faced by military students whose jobs require numerous changes and moves. Rather than just accumulating course credit, SOC member schools help students obtain college degrees by:

  • Limiting the amount of coursework students must take at a single college to 25% of degree requirements.

  • Designing transfer practices to minimize loss of credit and avoid duplication of coursework.

  • Awarding credit for military experience and training.

  • Allowing active-duty students to use tuition assistance to fund their programs (reserves and veterans may use the Montgomery G.I. Bill).
