Dr. Barbara Netzer oversees the academic partnerships and health outreach team. She joined APUS in 2012 and has served in progressive leadership roles. She fosters the development of seamless academic pathways for students interested in pursuing higher educational degrees. She has over 28 years of experience in higher education.
Dr. Netzer started her career as a pediatric staff nurse and advanced to a leadership role at Mercy Medical Center before transitioning into higher education. She was awarded the Catherine McCauley Mercy Nurse of the Year in 1992. She spent twenty years at the Community College of Baltimore County, where she served as a nurse educator, nursing program director, and nursing program administrator. She oversaw the development of the first hybrid online pre-licensure nursing program in the state.
Dr. Netzer earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She received her Doctor in Nursing Practice from Capella University.
