This course is designed to continue the examination of data and its use in the problem-solving process. In this course, students will integrate advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 2010 with data analysis techniques, including an introduction to big data add-ins such as PowerPivot and the use of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create queries in the PowerPivot tool. (Prerequisite: BUSN660)

Current Syllabi

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to

CO‐1 Learn about various Excel functions and how to use them to carry out calculations and produce outcomes.

CO‐2 Learn about Optimization in Excel and how to use Solver add‐in to Perform calculations and produce optimization reports.

CO‐3 Summarize & describe data, and compute measures to demonstrate knowledge of descriptive statistics.

CO‐4 Learn about variable relationships and regression modeling CO‐5 Learn about PowerPivot & DAX

CO‐6 Use Data Visualization Software features within spreadsheet, statistical, and data visualization programs to display data.

This course delivered via distance learning will enable students to complete academic work in a flexible manner, completely online. Course materials and access to an online learning management system will be made available to each student. Online assignments are due by Sunday evening of the week as noted and include Forum questions (accomplished in groups through a threaded forum), examination, and individual assignments submitted for review by the Faculty Member). Assigned faculty will support the students throughout this eight‐week course.
