Why We Must Inspire the Next Generation With Our Careers

Let me begin by posing a question: Can a fish swim in weightlessness? Well, it just so happens that a third grader once had the opportunity to ask that very question to an orbiting astronaut aboard Space Shuttle Discovery after winning a school-wide contest to see who could come up with the best question to ask an astronaut in space.

As it turns out, that little girl was me.  Now, 21 years later as a captain and pilot in the U.S. Air Force, I look back on that experience as the foundation for my lifelong interest in science, outer space and aviation
