Dean of APUS School of Arts and Humanities Dr. Grace Glass Completes Premier Leadership Training at 2016 HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute
Denver, CO, August 1, 2016 Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Grace Glass, Dean, School of Arts and Humanities at American Public University System (APUS), completed the 2016 HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute, July 11-23, 2016. Dr. Glass joined 63 women leaders across the United States as part of the HERS Institute at Bryn Mawr College.
For over 40 years, HERS has prepared women faculty and administrators for leadership roles in higher education. At one of the three HERS Institutes – HERS Denver, HERS Bryn Mawr, and HERS Wellesley – participants gain the knowledge and skills needed to lead change on their campus and positively affect higher education. The participants selected for this year’s HERS Denver cohort represent institutions across the U.S.
Institute sessions included Managing and Leading Change: Your Role in Re-inventing Higher Education, Negotiation Strategies, Navigating Executive Searches in Higher Education, Leaning into Turbulent Times, Diversity and Inclusion and Reframing: Work-Life to Living Well.
Faculty and guest speakers included: Donna Wilson, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Lock Haven University; Molly Smith, Provost and Vice President, St. Martin’s University; Belinda Miles, President, Westchester Community College; and Pamela Gunter-Smith, President, York College.
“The HERS Summer Institute was transformative. The self-knowledge, leadership development, and close relationships I gained will serve me well moving forward.” said Dr. Glass.
Dr. Glass has been serving as dean since 2015. She previously served as Associate Dean of General Studies at Northcentral Technical College and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at DeVry University in Chicago. Her participation in the HERS Bryn Mawr Institute was sponsored by APUS President Dr. Karan Powell.
