Course Faculty: WEBD121 - Web Development Fundamentals

Charles Edeki

Dr. Charles Edeki has a PhD in Information Technology, his specialty is Data Mining, Statistical Learning and Bioinformatics, his dissertation topic was “A Comparative Study of Data Mining and Statistical Learning Techniques for Prediction of Cancer Survivability”.

He graduated with MS in Mathematics Education at Walden University, Minneapolis and he attended Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, and graduated with Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science with concentration in Software Engineering and Programming Languages. He received the Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with concentration in Business Administration from Excelsior College, Albany-NY. He attended University of Maryland University College and graduated with Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics. In summer 2009, he completed a Professional Certificate in Data Mining at University of California, San Diego and Professional Certificate in Advanced Computer Security with Stanford University in summer 2010. He has published number of articles in peer review journals.

He spent eight years (1990 to 1998) in the US Army as a Patient Administration Specialist. He is qualified and experienced Computer and Math Instructor with research interest in Bioinformatics, Data Mining and Statistical Learning Algorithms. He started his teaching career in 1999 as a Tutor in Hawaii Pacific University at Honolulu – Hawaii after separating from the US Army and since then, teaching has being his passion and profession. He has taught and still teaching undergraduate students’ Introduction to Computing (MS Office Application Software), C++/Java programming languages, JavaScript, computer graphics using OpenGL and VRML (Virtual Reality Model Language), how to use game maker 6 and game factory 2 to develop electronic games, how to use Java 2D and Java3D Application Programming Interface (API) and C++ and Allegro library files to create computer games, database management system I, calculus 1 and II, college algebra and statistics courses.



His married with two children (8 years old daughter and 6 years old son) and live in New York City; they are his wings that carry him in life. Whenever he has a free time, he enjoys it with his family. He also enjoys jogging, watching TV cartoons and playing games with his children.

Jackie L Galvan

Jackie Galvan (Jack) earned his Master’s Degree in Information Systems from the Honors University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Jack’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology – Computer Systems is from American InterContinental University, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Jack has been accepted into the Ph.D. program in Information Systems at Northcentral University and working toward his Doctoral Degree.

Jacks previously served as the Chief Technology Officer for eQualitative Research Inc., a Market Research Company in Boca Raton, Florida, for six years, where among his other CTO duties, co-authored several of the patented video and VOIP interviewing systems used by Fortune 500 companies in Market Research Studies. Jack’s expertise is in web applications, architecture, usability, security and policies, and mobile technologies.

Currently, Jack owns a consulting company that works with many large and small corporations including several outside the U.S. His company creates solutions and manages web applications including SaaS (Software as a Service), systems, and Virtual Data Rooms to disseminate company documents in a secure environment online. A large portion Jack's work includes website design, information architecture, web applications and mobile solutions (HTML, XHTML, ASP.NET, Java, JavaScript, PHP, and Adobe Flash).

Jack currently holds and maintains several certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I) and a CompTIA A+ Certification - Computer Technician. Jack is also a member of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association)and an Academic Member of the WAA (Web Analytics Association)and a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

Jack gives his services to several Military Veterans 501(c)3 websites.

Awards

March 30, 2015 - Jack has passed his Comprehensive Exams, and is now a Ph.D. Candidate.

March 16, 2014 – Jack has been accepted to the Golden Key International Honor Society for his doctoral studies at Northcentral University.

June 2012 - Jack was awarded the APUS Outstanding New Faculty Member of the Year Award.

Karen G Hand

Karen G Hand Professor Karen Hand has worked in the field of Information Technology for over 20 years. She began her IT career as a Communications and Computer Specialist in the U.S. Air Force from 1987-1991. She was stationed at Hahn Air Base in Germany and served in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Since serving in the military, Professor Hand has continued working in various areas of the Information Technology field, such as network administration, computer programming, software development, data warehousing, Web applications development, technical writing, and training development.

Professor Hand's previous jobs include a position as a technical writer and instructional designer for the Florida Department of Health, and a position as a computer research specialist at the Florida State University's Learning Systems Institute. At the Learning Systems Institute, she conducted research and development in the area of e-learning and human performance support. Ms. Hand previously taught for the Computer Science Department at the Florida State University from 1997-2000, where she was instrumental in developing Internet and Web programming courses. She also has experience teaching Computer Science to gifted high school students attending the Florida State University's Young Scholars Program.

Ms. Hand holds an M.S. in Computer and Information Science from the Florida State University, an M.S. in Instructional Systems with an emphasis in Open and Distance Learning from the Florida State University, a B.S. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Maryland, and an A.A.S. in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems at the Florida State University. She is an expert on Web language standards and accessibility standards. Her research interests include Web standards development, computer and Web accessibility for the disabled, distance learning, gifted education, performance support systems, and emerging technologies.

Professor Hand was the first recipient from the School of Business, Management, and Information Technology to be awarded the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award by APUS, in 2007, the year this prestigious annual award was first offered.

Charlie W Williams

My name is Charlie Williams. I live in Suffolk, Virginia. I am originally from Fort Valley, Georgia. I have a BS in Mathematics from Fort Valley State University.
I have almost 12 years experience in Information Technology including 10 years in Software Development for the federal government.
I also have 18 years of experience in Logistics including Inventory Management, Operation Management, and, Transportation Management. I have also taught various traditional and online courses.
I have an MBA from Nova Southeastern University which was
completed through online instruction.
