The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) serves as a resource for American Public University System (APUS) faculty to access professional development materials and training opportunities, shared best practices and lessons learned, and discussions on current research and teaching methodologies. The CTL consults with Faculty Directors, Program Directors, and School Deans to incorporate new technologies into the electronic classroom and to develop appropriate pedagogies, ensuring that APUS stays abreast of the latest instructional practices.
The mission of the Center is to improve student learning through teaching excellence, and to provide support and resources for faculty to be innovative and effective.
The CTL equips faculty with the tools and resources needed to actively engage in teaching excellence; to build a virtual teaching and learning community among faculty members; and to serve as a one-stop, 24/7 Web source for resources and information on the many facets of teaching and learning online.
