Chicago, IL and Charles Town, WV, May 1, 2018 —American Public University System (APUS) and APICS, the professional association for supply chain management, today announced a partnership through which APUS will offer an instructor-facilitated preparation course for the APICS Certified Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) designation.

In the CLTD education and certification program, students learn how to effectively apply the latest trends in global supply chain logistics. CLTD combines course materials, interactive presentations, web-based tools and practice exams. APUS offers more than 200 affordable, quality online degree and certificate programs through American Military University and American Public University, in addition to  customized training solutions designed to address diverse and changing workforce development needs.

“The CLTD designation sets the global standard for best practices in logistics, transportation and distribution,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “APICS is proud to partner with APUS, who provides career-relevant programs instructed by industry experts to help working adults pursue careers in growing sectors like transportation and logistics management.”

U.S. spending in the supply chain sector totaled nearly $1.5 trillion in 2015, and it is one of 14 target industries in the Department of Labor’s High-Growth Job Training Initiative, according to APUS Dean of Faculty and Student Success Dr. Grady Batchelor. “The supply chain industry is growing rapidly, and CLTD certification is one way practitioners can acquire the necessary skills to keep pace,” said Batchelor. “Our partnership with APICS will help professionals accomplish this goal in tandem with expected continuing strong global demand for their expertise.”
