Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging: A Complete Education
At American Public University System (APUS), we believe that higher education is about more than just taking courses and earning a degree – it’s about being inspired and empowered by different perspectives, sharing ideas in meaningful and respectful ways, growing a diverse network, and being able to give back to one’s community. When you learn and grow with a vast, global, multicultural community like APUS, it has the potential to change your life in so many ways; both personally and academically.
At APUS, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are not just abstract ideals, they are woven into our institutional mission and critical to our purpose – we believe they can transform students into citizens.
You Belong at APUS
"At APUS we all are responsible for the culture of inclusion. By listening to diverse communities and acting on what we hear, we create an environment where all feel valued, respected and empowered."
— Nuno Fernandes
President, APUS
For the Many, Not Just the Privileged Few
The APUS community is vast and diverse, and it is mighty as a result. Not just regional or national, our student and alumni community is global. With over 140,000 graduates from more than 80 countries that span all ages, races, gender identities, economic backgrounds, and faiths, being part of the APUS community means being part of a cultural mosaic that challenges preconceived notions and supercharges learning long after you graduate.
Because being a member of such a widespread and varied institution – one that is home to so many student professionals – permanently ties you to a rich, multifarious network of people, perspectives, and expertise. We think that this aspect of the APUS experience is so important that we offer a variety of co-curricular programs and activities to promote not only your unique learning objectives, but also help you build your connections and grow your network.
