
Dr. Nicholas Wernicki is the Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Education. In this role, he leads a team focused on academic excellence in teaching and learning.
Dr. Wernicki has 30 years of wide-ranging experience across academic leadership, strategic enrollment management, faculty development, and workforce development at private liberal arts colleges, community colleges, and four-year colleges geared toward educating adults.
Before joining the University in May 2025, Dr. Wernicki held several leadership and teaching roles for nearly a decade. In all, he has 20 years of college teaching experience, as an Associate Professor of Philosophy and an Associate Professor of Humanities.
At Santa Fe Community College, he was Associate Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development for almost two years. There, he also helped launch a non-profit workforce development subsidiary. Prior to that, Dr. Wernicki served as a Dean at Albright College where he was also an Associate Professor of Philosophy. Dr. Wernicki was also a Dean at Delaware County Community College and an Associate Professor of Humanities (and a Founding Faculty Fellow for the Teaching and Learning Center) at Peirce College.
Dr. Wernicki’s academic interests include phenomenology, religious naturalism, empathy studies, and the philosophy of Jean Paul Sartre. Dr. Wernicki has made several contributions to books, including entries in Warren Zevon and Philosophy, and the Routledge Handbook of Religious Naturalism. He currently serves as editor for Continental Philosophy for the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, a peer reviewed academic resource.
Dr. Wernicki earned both his Ph.D. and his M.Phil in Philosophical and Theological Studies from Drew University. He also holds a M.A. in Liberal Studies from Villanova University, and a B.S. in Marketing from DeSales University.
