Dr. Steve Ernst brings a comprehensive background to his role at APUS that includes serving as a former tenured professor (PhD in plant genetics), Dean, and Vice President in higher education. In his first administrative role in higher education, Steve co-founded and managed what quickly became the largest higher education online program in Colorado. In addition to his various leadership roles in academia, he has also held leadership positions within education technology companies.
Steve has extensive experience managing course development, programs, and course materials for higher education, along with workforce and corporate-training management. Further developing his skills, he co-founded an adaptive-learning company and is also recognized as an inventor on an adaptive learning patent.
Steve earned his PhD from Michigan State University and a BS and MS from Colorado State University. He resides with his wife near Boulder, Colorado.
