M.Ed. Higher Education Administration Assessment Results

Program Learning Outcomes

By using various assessment tools and/or rubrics within the classroom, American Public University System (APUS) is able to capture a snapshot of students’ success in fulfilling their program outcomes. Signature assignments, generally in the final course of a program, are used to assess students’ proficiency in meeting each program outcome (PO). In order to show proficiency in an area, a student must achieve a score of 85% or greater. American Public University System strives to have 70% or more (university benchmark) of our students reaching the 85% proficiency standard. When this benchmark isn't met, action is taken to improve curriculum and instruction to better serve our students. The below chart shows combined results of M.Ed. Higher Education Administration students at APUS.

  • PO#1- Integrate higher educational history, philosophy, values, governance, economics, and policies into the professional practice of administration of higher education
  • PO#2- Create an effective learning environment that results in student success while honoring social and cultural diversity
  • PO#3- Implement appropriate leadership/management theories and concepts for the purpose of institutional advancement, stakeholder support, financial resource growth, community collaboration, and staff/faculty development
  • PO#4- Evaluate the use of educational technology to promote student learning and extend communication among stakeholders
  • PO#5- Develop institutional policies that align with ethical and legal standards in response to current societal and cultural realities
  • PO#6- Assess performance-based data regarding organizational effectiveness and student success, and implement appropriate intervention plans that effectively address diverse learner needs
  • PO#7- Assess faculty performance and institutional alignment to fulfill the overall mission and vision of the institution
