Charles Town, W. Va., June 1, 2015 – American Public University System (APUS) today announced that its Accounting and Reverse Logistics Management programs have received specialized accreditation and accreditation, respectively, from the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
APUS is one of just 15 colleges and universities nationwide to hold a specialized accounting accreditation with the ACBSP, and its Reverse Logistics Management program is the first of its kind to receive ACBSP accreditation. In addition, as of April 2015, all eligible APUS business programs are ACBSP accredited, according to Dr. Chad Patrizi, dean of the School of Business.
“In tandem with our APUS recognition earlier this year in U.S. News & World Report’s annual qualitative ranking of top online degree programs, we’re very pleased to have two additional business programs accredited by ACBSP,” said Patrizi. “This certifies that our quality teaching and learning processes fully meet its rigorous educational standards and provides an additional level of quality assurance through guidelines provided by several accounting organizations.”
“The ACBSP accreditation process allowed us to gather evidence of the many improvements we have made across the School of Business over a period of several years,” added Dr. Juan E. Román, CPA, CGMA, program director, accounting. “We’re truly proud of our collective achievements.”
The APUS Accounting program helps prepare adult learners to succeed in various accounting careers in public accounting, governmental accounting, and not-for-profit accounting while the Reverse Logistics Management program provides a comprehensive grounding in the field as a key component in logistics, retail, and engineering management. Faculty scholar-practitioners bring hands-on perspective to the classroom from their respective fields of expertise, and each program is regularly reviewed for business relevancy by advisory councils comprised of industry professionals and academics to best meet emerging market needs.
